One of the most common questions we hear from seniors is, "What should I wear for my senior pictures?"
The good news is there isn't a single right answer. Your senior portraits should reflect your personality, interests, and style. The goal isn't to look like someone else, it's to capture who you are during one of the most exciting seasons of your life.
We always tell my seniors to bring at least one outfit that makes them feel confident the moment they put it on. Whether that's a sundress, jeans and a favorite top, a tailored jacket, or something trendy, confidence photographs beautifully.
For most senior sessions, we recommend bringing three to four outfits:
Casual everyday look
Dressy outfit
School spirit or college gear
Activity or hobby-related outfit
This variety creates a gallery that feels complete and gives you more options when choosing images for albums and wall art.
Solid colors photograph best. Earth tones, jewel tones, and soft neutrals are timeless choices that keep the focus on your face.
Try to avoid:
Neon colors
Large logos
Busy patterns
Trendy pieces that may feel dated in a few years
Accessories can completely change the look of an image. Bring hats, jewelry, jackets, boots, or anything that helps tell your story.
Most importantly, make sure your clothing fits well and is wrinkle-free before your session.
The best senior portraits happen when you feel comfortable. Don't choose outfits because they're popular on social media. Choose clothing that feels like you.
Years from now, you'll appreciate seeing the real version of yourself, not a trend.
If you're planning your senior session in Denver, we're always happy to help you select outfits and create a personalized style plan before your session.
